Best Home Furnishing is currently seeking a qualified individual interested in a Maintenance Technician position. 

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Summary: Responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing machinery, sewing equipment, physical structures, pipes and electrical related equipment, as needed. The position requires mechanical aptitude, basic electrical and controls skills, troubleshooting skills and ability to work well with people. Work schedules will mirror production operations and some overtime is required. Advancement opportunities in wage and responsibility follow successful job performance and expanded knowledge of equipment. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visually inspects and tests sewing machines and similar equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from sewing machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with machine operators, supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of sewing machines.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of sewing machines and  equipment.
  • Able to adjust settings on computerized sewing machines.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts is a plus.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • General Maintenance duties as needed.

Other  Job Qualification Requirements:

  • Have strong electrical/mechanical aptitude
  • Possess strong troubleshooting skills
  • Must have the ability to work well with sewing machine operators and supervisors to complete jobs in an efficient manner
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Primary responsibility in the assigned Division, but will be required to service other Divisions
  • Ability to work all scheduled hours including required overtime hours
  • 2 + years relevant experience
  • Experience in PLC/CAD software is a plus.  

Education or experience required: High school or equivalent
